Who We Are

Aloha and welcome!

The Film Actor’s Studio was founded by Hawai‘i born and L.A. trained actress Sherilyn Robertson, who has worked for many years all over the country on theater, film and television productions, and is also a 10+ year member of the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG). The places she has trained are among some of the most highly recommended and respected in Los Angeles including The Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Studio, The Groundlings improvisation, and the Tepper/Gallegoes Commercial Workshops.

Several years ago, Sherilyn moved back home to Hawai‘i with a new endeavor in mind. She decided to utilize her vast experiences in a new way and form the Film Actor’s Studio with the intent of sharing her knowledge with others. Since then, the Studio is has been greatly successful and now offers a wide range of classes and workshops including improvisation (Who’s Line Is It Anyway?), film/television scene study, monologue work, modeling, self improvement, commercial preparation, and on-camera audition techniques.

The Film Actor’s Studio is open to students of all ages and all levels from the absolute beginner to the seasoned veteran. Whether you’re looking for a way to propel your career in the entertainment industry, or just trying to find a fun new hobby, everyone can benefit from what we offer. Our students have won roles in film and television including productions like Lost, the High School Musical #3 reality show, Beyond the Break, ER, North Shore, All for Melissa, and spots on MTV and VH1. They have also appeared on stage with Broadway’s Hairspray, as well as in commercials and print advertisements for Hawaiian Airlines, Windward Mall, K-Swiss, Jack-in-the-Box, and the ‘Just Say No’ public service announcements to name a few.
